Welcome to Enigma.

We’re a workshop for ideas that don’t behave. We make stories, objects, experiments, and the occasional “this shouldn’t work” project. Everything gets stripped back, sharpened, and tested until it either functions or becomes interesting.

The palette is loud on purpose: deep indigo, electric purple, hot magenta, held together with black linework like a seatbelt for chaos. If you’re after safe and predictable, the internet is full of it. If you want clarity with teeth, you’re in the right place.

Portal to Creative Chaos

Simon Chancellor is Enigma Design Studio’s Creative Director. He builds ideas into things that survive contact with reality: objects, visuals, systems, prototypes, and the occasional “this seemed sensible at the time” experiment. His style is minimalist with bite, obsessively intentional, and allergic to fluff. If something can’t justify its existence, it doesn’t get to stay.

Simon’s work sits in the overlap between craft and code. He likes clean lines, strong contrast, and the kind of detail most people only notice when it’s missing. He’s also responsible for Enigma’s tone: dry humour, controlled sarcasm, and the quiet confidence of someone who doesn’t need to explain themselves to win an argument.

If you want the longer version of how his brain works, it’s documented in The Enigma Journals (link below). Otherwise: welcome. Try not to touch anything.

Enigma Principles

No Beige

Neutral is not a personality.

Restraint

If it doesn’t earn its place, it leaves.

Precision

Close enough is how mistakes breed.

Useful Mischief

Chaos, but with a purpose.

   ENIGMA STORIES

Welcome to the narrative side of the studio: fragments, backstories, finished pieces, and the occasional problem disguised as a plot. Some are polished. Some are deliberately not. All of them have teeth.

Design is code. Humour is weaponry. Coffee is fuel.
If you’re confused or offended… the first filter is working.
